Obama Essay Contest. In an effort to encourage St. Louis area
students to commit themselves to both writing and civic awareness, we
are offering this monthly contest. The first place winner will
receive a “laptop” computer! Please read important details, terms
& conditions below. 2009 Topic: What does the election of President Obama mean to you? Terms & ConditionsThe 2009 Banks & Associates, P.C. President Barack Obama Essay Contest (the "Contest") will consist of twelve contests, one each month, each beginning on the first day of the month and closing on the last day of the month. The deadline for submission of your essay for consideration each month, is the last day of that particular month. Winners will be notified by U.S. Mail. Banks & Associates, P.C. will award twelve First Place winning contestants, one each month, with a portable computer. Eligibility Students are eligible to participate if they are in grades seven through twelve and are U.S. citizens. Students may be attending a public, private or parochial school in the greater St. Louis area and must currently be in grades seven through twelve by the end of each month's contest deadline. You may enter one essay each month, but previous months' winners are not eligible to participate. It is to your advantage to have someone review your essay before you submit it to make sure it is complete, is free from spelling and grammatical errors, and addresses the topic. By entering the contest, participants agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Official Rules and Regulations. Format You must type or hand write your original essay on one side of white 8.5 by 11 inch paper. Your full name, address, phone number, grade, your school's name and your school's principal's name must be included. There are no minimum or maximum number of words required. Banks & Associates, P.C. is not responsible for misdirected, incomplete, lost, late or illegible entries. ESSAYS MUST BE THE ORIGINAL WORK OF THE STUDENT. False, deceptive or previously published entries as determined by Banks & Associates, P.C. will render the entrant ineligible. All essays must be submitted in the name of an individual student and prizes can only be awarded to the student whose name is on each winning essay. Essays will be judged on content, presentation, original insights and clear, correct writing, based primarily on the student's own observations. The Contest is administered by Banks & Associates, P.C., the decisions of which in all matters regarding the Contest are final and binding. If the potential winners do not respond to notification attempts to contact him/her, an alternate winner or honorable mention may be selected at Banks & Associates, P.C.'s discretion. Publicity By entering this Contest, participants grant Banks & Associates, P.C. the right to use their name, likeness, voice, picture or entry without further authorization or compensation, for the purposes of advertising and publicizing the Contest, its winners, and all matters related to the Contest. General Conditions By entering this Contest, entrants agree to release Banks & Associates, P.C. from any and all liability claims or actions of any kinds whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize.
