OUR CLIENTS Man Dies of Burns from Elevator Fire Facts:
A 29 year old man working for a cleaning company hired to clean the
brass
interior of an elevator died after a tragic incident resulted in over
70%
of his body being burned. Our client, along with two other young men
became
trapped in the burning elevator when a fire broke out after a loose
wire
in an electrical panel ignited the cleaning fluid they were using.
Result: The elevator company and the chemical company settled with our clients for over $12.2 million dollars. Hospital's Misdiagnosis Means Death Sentence for Patient Facts:
A man participating in a study investigating prostate cancer complained
to his doctors and nurses at the hospital of symptoms consistent with
colon
cancer. All his complaints went unanswered until the head of the
program
dismissed his complaints as a racial problem and referred the patient
to
an African American doctor.
Result: After a long legal battle with the hospital and doctors involved, they were finally willing to settle with our client for $1.5 million dollars, but never admitted fault. Unfortunately, our client died months after the conclusion of his case. Girl Struck by Truck While Walking to Friend's House Facts: A 19 year old girl, visiting a friend on her day off work, was struck by a truck as she walked down the side walk on South Jefferson. The truck, which had been seen swerving in and out of traffic before this tragic incident, apparently lost control, jumped the curb and ran over our client. She died at the scene. High School Student Left Brain Damaged Facts: A 14 year old high school freshman, on his way to school, is dropped off in the middle of a block with no crosswalk, stop light, or traffic control device. The bus comapny denied any liability. the boy was struck by a passing car and suffered severe brain damage. Result:
After a week-long trial, the jury awarded the boy $7.7 million dollars.
